Hike Hidden Lake, Anchorage

What: Local Anchorage area hike heading up to a lake in the Chugach Range. Roughly 11 miles and 1500 ft elevation gain, rated as moderate.

When: Ideally done in the summer time after the snow has melted between May and October. Can be done in the winter too, but can be slow going if there’s not a beaten down path already. Should take roughly 4 hours total.

Tips:

  • Not a hard hike and can be done by most physical abilities, just takes time given the 10+ mile distance.
  • One great way to reduce the hike time is to bike half of the trail. Bike down powerline pass towards the hidden lake turn off (first ~2.5 miles), lock up your bike at the turn, and hike the rest of the way to hidden lake.
  • For the extra adventurous, this is a great hike to pair with hiking up The Ramp or The Wedge, both of which can be accessed by walking past Hidden Lake.
