Kayak Passage Canal, Whittier

What: One of the most beautiful bays in the state, well worth checking out via kayaking. You can rent a kayak in the town of whittier and go explore as far out as you want.

When to go: Ideally accessed in the summer months between May and October.

Tips:

• Given the routine storms/rain that Whittier experiences, and the impact of that on sea conditions, it is recommended to do this on a nice clear day.
• It should be fairly obvious on where to rent kayaks once you get to the main town area; you will need to pay for parking while you leave your car on the shore.
• The kayak tours will describe plenty of options for kayaking – you can go yourself or do guided adventures. For the extra adventurous you can ever take a water taxi to go much further out in Prince William Sound.
• Kayaking in the ocean is no joke; make sure you’re prepared and understand all safety precautious before you leave.
