Tips:

  • Start at the “mile high trailhead” in Eagle River – you will start a very steep climb from the very start. Once you eventually get above the treeline, you will see an option to head left or right. Head right towards Mt Magnificent. There will be several false peaks along the way, but you will have great views the whole way.
  • The final section the Mt Magnificent peak can get narrow, steep, and rocky so be careful. You can always stop just short of the peak and enjoy the same views of the valleys around. Alternatively, if you’re up more hiking, you can keep going past Mt Magnificent on the ridge line as far as you want.
  • One of the best times to visit is in September to enjoy the beautiful fall colors of the valley below.
