Hike Peak 2 & 3, Anchorage

What: Two accessible peaks in the Chugach Range near Anchorage with great views all around. 3.3 miles with 2200 ft of elevation gain rated as moderate.

When to go: Can be accessed year round; ideally accessed in the summer months between May and October. Total hike should take 2 to 3 hours.

Tips:

  • You can do either of the peaks, or combine the two by going up one, traversing to the other, and hiking down from there. In terms of climbing, Peak 2 is easier/less steeper than Peak 3.
  • There is no official parking lot at the trailhead, and the area shares trailhead with Rabbit Lake and the backside of Flat Top. You may have to park a ways down the road if going on a popular day.
