Tips

  • Given the cost and logistics, it’s not necessarily worth coming out here just to kayak the lake. However, if you’re already out there seeing bears fish off brooks falls, adding a kayaking adventure on the lake can be a great experience.
  • Your best bet is to rent kayaks/canoes from Brooks lodge by the hour. You can take them out as far and as long as you’d like – it’s worth paddling along the coast line and exploring some of the beautiful coves in the area. Be careful of bears since they can often be fishing along that same coast line.
  • Watch out for float planes landing/taking off from the lake – you don’t want to get in their way!
